The United States has announced that it will officially unlock registration for the Diversity Visa Program for Fiscal Year 2022 (DV-2022) commonly known as the Green Card lottery.

Through the State Department, the officials revealed that the online registration will start on Wednesday, October 7 from midday and end on Tuesday, November 20, 2020.

Foreigners interested in legally moving to the US are directed to submit their applications only through the site https://dvprogram.state.gov

The Diversity Visa Program grants 55,000 annual permanent resident visas to foreign nationals from countries with low immigration rates to the US. As such those not eligible for the Green Card include natives from, Brazil, South Korea, Bangladesh, Canada, Nigeria, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, China (including Hong Kong SAR), and Vietnam.

However, Kenyans are among citizens eligible to apply for permanent residency. According to statistics from the US State Department, 2777 Kenyans won the lottery during last year’s applications.
