TSC New Salary Scales for teachers as from July 2020 under Phase 4 of CBA implementation

Teachers will  be smiling to the bank as they are expected to receive salary increments as from July 2020 since Teachers Service Commission (TSC)  is set to implement the fourth and last phase of 2017- 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

The 2017-2021 CBA had four phases and up to date the commission has implemented the the first three phases and by July 2020 its set to implement the  fourth phase which is the last one. Unfortunately there are categories of teachers who will not benefit from this fourth phase since their salary  increment was done in the first two phases of the implementation.

Below  are categories of  teachers who didn’t benefit from the third phase and at the same time they wont get any benefit from  fourth phase of the 2017-2021 CBA:

  1. Secondary Teacher II & Secondary Teacher II Untrained And Primary SNE Teachers
  2. Primary Teacher I And Secondary Teacher III
  3. Primary Teacher II

Teachers new salaries after the implementation of phase 4 of CBA in July  2020

1.CHIEF PRINCIPALS (T- Scale 15)

Chief Principals are those heads of the National Schools and to some extent those Extra County Schools with a population of over 1000 students.As from 1sr July, 2020 they will receive and increment of up to ksh 9,496 which will see the highest earner in this category receiving ksh 157,656 while the lowest will pocket ksh 131,380 per month.

2.SENIOR PRINCIPALS (T- Scale 14)

They head county schools which has a population of over 540 students. Currently they receive ksh 109,249 to ksh 118,169 per month. After the implementation of this CBA they will receive an increment of ksh 3,721 to ksh 8,993. Therefore they will pocket ksh 118,242 to ksh 121,890 per month at the end of July, 2020. They are among those categories whose salaries were to be effected in the four phases under the CBA .

3.PRINCIPALS (T- Scale 13)

They head Sub-County  and all Day Schools. They usually earn a monthly salary  ksh 93,850 to ksh 102,807. In this category the  highest earner will receive an increment of ksh 1,837 and therefore he will pocket ksh 104,644 per month while the lowest will receive an increment of ksh 10,794 which will see him/her earning a new salary of ksh 104,6444 per month.

4.DEPUTY PRINCIPALS III

This category lies under the administrators of the Sub-county and All Day Schools. Their earnings currently ranges between ksh 82,717 to ksh 87,900 per month. The lowest earner will pocket a monthly salary of  ksh 91,041 after an increment of ksh 8,324 while the highest earner will pocket a monthly salary of ksh 91,041 after receiving an increment of ksh 3,141.

5.SENIOR HEAD TEACHERS, SENIOR MASTER II AND DEPUTY PRINCIPALS IV

Those primary schools with a population of over 1000 learner are usually headed by Senior Head Teachers with Grade D1 (T- Scale 11). While county schools with a population of over 540 studnets are headed by  Senior Master II with Grade D1 (T- Scale 11). They currently earn a monthly of  ksh 74,703 to  ksh 82,717. Both of them will receive an increment of up to ksh3,137.

6.HEAD TEACHERS, DEPUTY HEAD TEACHER I AND SENIOR MASTER III

Head Teachers  with Grade C5 (T- Scale 10).head those primary schools with a population of learners below 1000. While, Deputy Head Teacher I at Grade C5 (T- Scale 10) are administrators in those primary schools with enrollment of over 1000 learners

Senior Master III of Grade C5 (T- Scale 10) are administrators in  sub-county  and All Day Schools.Lowest earners in this Category who receives a monthly pay of ksh 51,632 will now pocket ksh  62,272.

7.DEPUTY HEAD TEACHER II

Primary schools with a population of learners below 1000 are administered by Deputy Head Teacher II Grade C4 (T- Scale 9). These teachers currently earn monthly salaries of between Sh45,287 and 51,632.

8.SECONDARY TEACHER I AND SENIOR TEACHER I

Those teachers who teach in secondary schools whose grade was formerly L and now C 3 lies under the category of Secondary Teacher I. While those administrators  with  grade C3 in primary schools whose enrolment is over 1000   lies Under the category of Senior Teacher I. The two categories earn monthly salaries of ksh41,343 to ksh51,927 currently and they will now earn between ksh43,154 and ksh53,943 effective July, 2020.

9.SENIOR TEACHER II, SECONDARY TEACHER II & SECONDARY TEACHER II UNTRAINED (UT) AND PRIMARY SNE TEACHERS

Primary schools with population of learners below 1000 are administered by Senior Teacher II are administrators While those teachers who teach in secondary schools who are diploma holders lies in the category of  Secondary Teacher III. These teachers currently pocket salaries of between KES31,242 and KES 33,971 and will get an increment of between KES 984 to KES 3,717.

10.SECONDARY TEACHER II & SECONDARY TEACHER II UNTRAINED AND PRIMARY SNE TEACHERS

This category comprises of those teachers who were formerly in job group K now in grade C2. They are  unlucky simply because will go home empty handed without any salary increment under this fourth phase of the CBA .

This Grade C2 is an entry grade for those Secondary  school teachers who holds a bachelor degree in education. It is also a promotional grade for holders of Diploma in Education.

11.PRIMARY TEACHER I AND SECONDARY TEACHER III

This category comprises of those teachers who were formerly in job group H and J but now in grade C1. Those secondary schools teachers who are holders of diploma lies under this category. This is another category of teachers who will also nit get any salary increment under this phase of the CBA .

12.PRIMARY TEACHER II

This  category of teacher teaches in primary schools and are  in grade B5. They are unlucky also since they will not benefit from this Fourth phase of the CBA therefore they will home empty handed without any salary increment.
