More than 20 Bachelor of Science and Arts Degree Teaching Courses have been outlawed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Graduates who participated in the training and hoped to be registered by TSC will now need to search for employment elsewhere.
Teachers with training in disciplines not currently covered by the curriculum will not be allowed to register with the Commission.
“Applicants for registration whose training is in subjects that are currently NOT in the curriculum do not qualify irrespective of having undertaken a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/ or Enhancement.” Says the Commission via the current Registration Guidelines for new teachers.
“Those who have undertaken a PGDE with these courses are NOT eligible for registration as teachers.
These courses don’t cover enough material, thus the required level of content mastery in two teaching disciplines isn’t achieved. incorporates the rules.
Nevertheless, TSC makes it clear that “Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree holders with a post Graduate.
Registration requirements include two teaching subjects and a PGDE in education.
