The principal of ABC Kiseveni Secondary School in Machakos County has been arrested for engaging in exam malpractice in the ongoing KCSE exams.

The Principal identified as Betta Mutuku was arrested for allegedly posting the 2021 KCSE Mathematics paper on her WhatsApp status a few hours to the exams.

A group of police officers led by Machakos DCIO Rhodah Kanyi visited the school on Tuesday morning and arrested her.

The Principal is reported to put the Mathematics paper on her WhatsApp status since Monday evening for the candidates to study before the exam on Tuesday.

Police have taken her phone to aide with investigations.
Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has announced that the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination marking is 90% done.

Speaking in Kisumu on Tuesday while supervising the distribution of KCSE exams, Prof Magoha noted said only composition and Insha papers are yet to be finalized.

“We had a schedule and in the inside of the next two weeks, the results will be out,” Magoha said.

Addressing the integrity of the ongoing KCSE exams, the Prof noted that very few cases of irregularities have been reported so far across the country.

According to the CS, only 15 people and 15 phones had been confiscated, adding that investigations are being conducted before action is taken on those found guilty.

“Today marks the third week of the examinations, and we are proceeding extremely well, considering all things. The examination has gone as per the schedule, except a few tricks that I warned about earlier,” Magoha divulged.
