Under article 237 (2) of the constitution, the commission is mandated to perform the registration of trained teachers. The following are requirements for one to register for a new Teachers Service Commission Number (TSC N0.), in Kenya:
For New Registration a non refundable fee of Kshs. 1055/- deposited to the TSC Registration . KES. 1000 is a non-refundable registration fee and KES. 55 is the Bank commission charge on TSC. Account:
National Bank of Kenya (Direct Banking to A/C No. 01001000905001 or Simple Banking using Pay Bill Business Number 625625 is required for processing your certificate. Ensure you have Bank Deposit Slip before proceeding with the application.
You should scan only required documents;
a. Only original documents should be scanned and uploaded.
b. For Expatriate Teachers, attach a letter of clearance from Ministry of Education
Vetting Committee.
The required documents are;
a) Passport/ ID (National Identity Card)
b) Bank deposit slip
c) Certificate of Good Conduct
d) GP 69 Medical Letter
e) Transcript (All in one pdf)
f) Affidavit;( only, when names differ from other documents)
g) MPESA payment evidence.
h) KRA PIN Certificate
i) Certified copies of academic and professional certificates.
j) Entry and work permit for non Kenyans.
After submission of TSC number application form , within 30 days you get a response.
Application for TSC number in Kenya can be denied if;
a) Previous records of criminal offences that renders the person unfit to be a teacher.
b) Bad moral conduct with former offense conflictions.
c) Lack of proper/ relevant academic and professional qualification.
d) If the applicant is engaged in activities that are prejudicial to peace ,order and good governance.
e) If the applicant suffers physical or mental infinity that renders them incapable of performing duties.
