Incidents of fires in schools have been on the rise with the government, through the Ministry of Education, unsure of how to go about in order to mitigate this scourge that has bedeviled our great nation.

The resumption of studies for the third term of 2021 has brought about unprecedented damage to property in schools through fires that are still being started by, presumably, students.

This morning, we have received reports from reliable sources that a boarding school in Kenyenya Sub County was burnt down last night.

While confirming the incident, kisii County Police Commander, Francis Kooli said that a dormitory at Omobera SDA Boarding Primary School burnt in an inferno last evening.

The cause of the fire, according to the Kisii County  Police Commander has not yet been established but investigations have begun into the incident.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the midnight incident that left most of the pupils with nowhere to sleep for the night.
