Senior teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission in public schools have a reason to smile.
News from reliable source indicate that their salaries might be reviewed starting 2022.
This cuts across all senior teachers in primary schools and those ones in secondary schools
TSC boss Dr. Nancy Macharia says that this group of teachers play a very important role in schools and therefore deserve a salary increment.
Senior teachers in primary schools who are in job group C5 will earn 64631 shillings in the proposed salary increment. This is an increment of 17000 shillings. At the moment, they are earning 47896 shillings per month.
Senior teachers in secondary schools will earn 157656 shillings. An increment of 40000 shillings because currently they are earning 115163 shillings.
Macharia says that the commission will cater for salary increment for all teachers.
She further says that the salary increment for teachers has already been captured in the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement
