Many people think that teaching is one the profession which you can pursue and later on secure a job easily but  that’s not the case here. Currently its the worst profession and somehow stressful. That’s why teachers in Kenya have always made headlines for hitting the streets demanding for a better pay. That sums up how stressful and underpaying the profession is.

All teachers in kenya are employed by one body that’s the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) which has the power to employ and interdict teachers once they commit an offence which is against the  code of conduct. The commission has the power to post any teacher in any part of the republic of Kenya. Therefore some teachers end up in hardship areas.

A number of teachers will miss their hardship allowances this is after the commission restructured the areas marked as hardship areas. Initially, teachers were automatically entitled to hardship allowances if they were posted to the areas that were marked as experiencing hardships by then.

Those areas initially known to be hardship areas currently are not due to the fact that they have developed. They  now have good transportation and communication networks, good  security  and several social amenities have developed.Furthermore, the religious conflicts have dwindled and the earlier hardship areas are secure and peaceful to work in.
