Today the 8th of the Seventh month of the year 2020, eight leaders from Central province popularly known as Mt Kenya region were engaged in a detailed four-hour meeting that was chaired and led by the National Assembly speaker Justin B. Muturi.
The leaders who were present among them were ;
1.National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi himself,
2. Kiraitu Murungi – Governor Meru,
3.Muthomi Njoki-Tharaka Nithi Governor
4.Lee Kinyanjui – Governor Nakuru
5.Nderitu Muriithi – Governor Laikipia
6. Charles Kibiru – Senator Kirinyaga
7. Amos Kimunya – Current National Assembly Majority Leader
8. Peter Kenneth – Former Gatanga MP
In a presser that was held at Pan African Hotel the leaders narrated that they met to discuss matters Mt. Kenya politics and celebrate one of their own Amos Kimunya for being elevated to a position of Majority Leader.
Meru Governor reiterated that, “We are here to appreciate President Uhuru Kenyatta for the appointment of Kimunya and that’s why we come to congratulate mheshimiwa Kimunya.”
He further stated that, “The future is there for all of us , we are congratulating Kimunya, we are not creating any special impression we are working for our people.”
In the recent past President Uhuru Kenyatta had convened a meeting where he removed members who seemed to oppose his agenda from the positions they held and among the positions which were affected was that of the Majority Leader.
Kipipiri member of Parliament Amos Kimunya was elevated to a position of Leader of Majority in the National Assembly replacing Garissa Township MP Aden Duale who had been holding the position for the last 7 years.
This move by the Key Mt. Kenya leaders meeting comes a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta is planning to tour the region and hence seeming to be a meeting for strategizing and planning how the tour will be formulated and executed.
Its also in public domain that leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been attacking the president and hence it has come a time for him to address the allegations to the people of the region.
