A widow who boiled stones for her hungry children when she did not have food is now a happy woman after well wishers decided to build her a six roomed modern house.
Penina Kitsao was handed the key to her new house on Saturday, December 5.Without hiding the happiness on her face, the widow said;
“It is a dream come true, I cannot wake up from it. I have never thought that Kenyans can be this generous after being a blessing to me and my children. ”
Speaking to a local media, Penina said that life has not been easy for her and the kids but at last she can put a smile on her face.
Penina got a six-bedroomed modern house which cost KSh 1.4 million. The woman said she will rent out three rooms.
The woman lost her husband in 2019 in the hands of armed robbers and from then things has never been the same again. Her children dropped out of school as she lacked money for food to fees.
The woman who is in her 40s recounted events on the day she had nothing to prepare for the kids.
After exhausting all means of getting food for her children without success, she lit up fire and put stones in the pot just to reassure the hungry children that something was cooking.
Penina’s story touched many and with that committees came together to help her out.
The committee consisted of Mbuba, Faith Muchiri and Prisca Momanyi, the neighbor who posted her predicament on social media, and some family members.
There was a first committee led by a politician, however, it had to be disbanded since there was no positive progress. I thank the second committee formed under Jamleck Mbuba, the deputy county commissioner in Kisauni which made this dream come true,” she said.
