A man from Changinywa Village, Kikumbulyo location in Makueni county will be arraigned in Makindu Law Courts for attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl in the wee hours of the morning.

The girl was on her way to school when the man, Peter Odongo, dragged her to the nearby bush.

“Odongo, had waylaid the minor as she headed to school Monday morning on a bicycle before he grabbed her by her neck and savagely dragged her to a nearby bush,” DCI reported.

The man tried taking the girl’s innocence but she managed to overpower him and run back home.

“The girl managed to fight off the man who had already soiled her loins and escaped towards her home, where she reported the incident to her mother,” DCI said in a statement.

Her concerned and angry mother rushed her for a check-up before it was too late.

“She was immediately rushed to Kibwezi sub county hospital by her distraught mother, where the necessary medical examinations were conducted,” DCI said.

Concerned neighbours made police aware of the incident and immediate action was taken. Odongo was later apprehended at a nearby farm.

“He was arraigned at the Makindu Law courts Tuesday, to answer to charges of attempted defilement, contrary to section 9 (1) and (2) of the Sexual Offences Act,” DCI tweeted.
