The Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service ( KUCCPS) has released the list of students shortlisted to join various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes.

KUCCPS announced that in the 2021/2022 cycle, 265,145 students – who applied for various courses in February – have been shortlisted for degree and TVET programs.

Agnes Wahome, the KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), announced that 137,072 of the total applicants were placed in TVETs, while128,073 will pursue degree programs in different universities.

While at the website, the applicants are required to login using their credentials as follows;

Enter KCSE Index Number, the year of examination and their password.

The applicants are advised to use their Birth Certificate Number or KCPE Index Number (as used in KCSE Exam Registration) as their initial password.

“Once you have confirmed the college to which you have been placed, contact the institution for joining instructions,” the statement by KUCCPS read in part.


The total fees for a year at the technical institutions is set at Ksh56,420. The government fee subsidy covers Ksh30,000.

Students can apply for a loan through the Higher Education Loans Board to help in paying of the remaining Ksh26,420 balance.

In a past interview with The Nation, the KUCCPS CEO, noted that TVET carries out their

placement exercise in three cycles.

However, the institutions are the ones to guide the students on when to report, based on their academic calendars.

“We do not dictate to them when the students should report. Once we place, we encourage the institutions to agree with the students on when to report, based on the available resources. We also encourage them to introduce open, distance and e-learning (ODEL) and blended learning where possible,” she stated.
