The introduction of online Lessons Observation forms by TSC  to monitor teachers’ time management has reportedly taken a new shift. The records are usually taken by the deputy headteachers and/or the TPAD champions, or by any other teacher assigned the rights by the deputy head of institution, to be a lesson observer during the lesson observation week.

According to the TSC’s termly calendar of activities, lesson observation should take place within the three weeks from the date of opening of schools, and then the records are immediately updated on the TPAD.

Ever since the process was introduced almost five years ago, teachers have been filling the online assessment sheets of the same, which usually reflects the score of each attribute on the lesson observation form.

The attributes usually sum up to give the final score of the teachers professional development in teaching and learning.

According to reports from the commission, as disclosed by the commission’s Head of Corporate Communications Ms  Beatrice Wababu, TSC has tried to centralize its services for easier working environment for its employees, something that has forced lesson observation to be handled online.

Moreso, the records are to be incorporated on the teachers’ profiles that were being updated three months ago. The records, as further reported, will only include the annual average score of the teachers’ termly scores, and the same will be used to rank the teachers according to their updated scores.

Ms Wababu further reported that the commission is on the verge of completing several aspects that could fix some unnecessary bugs in the new system, so that the records of teachers are captured with transparency and accountability.

Such will reduce unbearable complains from the teachers, and hence award them as per the scores on their online TPADs.

Therefore, lesson observation should be taken by teachers with seriousness, and every teacher is entitled to undertake the process at least ones per term so that his/her final average score could not be below the standard required by the commission.
