Over 30000 teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission in job group C2 have a reason to smile. This is because TSC plans to give these teachers a salary increment.
Macharia says that for a long time, these teachers have been allocated a very low salary increment. These are mainly primary school teachers who earn very little. Macharia today in education stakeholders meeting said that these teachers should not worry as TSC is about to remember them.
It has been reported that teachers in job group C2 earn as little as 20000 shillings. With this, they are unable to meet basic necessities in life. Macharia says that the commission has decided to favour these teachers in the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
They will now start earning a salary of 25000 shillings at the end of February this year. This news come amid cries from these teachers on their salaries. The decision by the Teachers Service Commission to increase their salaries will be of great importance.
