Education CS George Magoha, has today  announced a number of conditions  to be observed after the reopening of schools in September 2020.

The CS was speaking during a tour of kilifi county where he directed that classroom to have a maximum number of students between 15-20, teachers to report to school two weeks before reopening date and learners to be provided with two masks.

He also stated that all schools to be provided with thermo guns which will assist in determining the temperatures of all those who will be accessing the learning institutioms

All these conditions requires that schools to have more manpower and its not yet clear whether more teachers would be hired after KNUT argued that the reopeoning plan might be unsusccesful if a deficit of 400,000 teachers was not covered for the new teacher-student ratio to be implemented

KNUT secretary General sossion was for the idea  that all BOM teachers to be absorbed by TSC in order to curb the shortages

KNUT was was also advocating for the safety of the teachers hence urged TSC to suspend the delocalistions of teachers thus teachers are supposed to be posted in schools which are next to their residence. This will  help to limit the movement of teachers from their homes to schools especially those that use public means of transport.

The CS in his previous address  also confirmed that 24million pieces of face masks would be given to schools across the county by August after the gender was given to Rivatex a company engaged in manufacturing the commodity.

“Once we agree on the prototype, then we will get the pricing so that when schools open in September, face masks will be in the institutions by mid-August as per the presidential directive,” he stated at that time.

While inspecting Nakuru Girls High School on Thursday June 18,the CS said that the secondary and primary school final examinations would be taken in April 2021 if the scheduled September 2020 reopening was successful.

“KCSE and KCPE candidates to sit for their exams in April 2021 if schools reopen in September. The earliest KCPE and KCSE exams can take place in February and the latest in April,” he said .
