Temporal Speaker at the National assembly Chris Omuelele has had a hard time restraining the irate MPs in the standoff that lasted for several minutes at a time they were were voting to either support or reject amendments by Kandara MP Alice Wahome that called for the removal of a procedure for the formation of a coalition political party.

In the Course of the confrontation,Two MPs exchanged blows in the house halting the voting of amendments to the Political Parties Amendment Bill.

During the chaotic session, Sigowet Soin member of parliament Bernard Koros sustained an injury on the right eye but it has not been established who exactly injured him.

“Mr Speaker I have been injured, it is very wrong that I can be injured in a Honourable House Mr Speaker…I have been attacked by the master of violence in this house.” He Said.

The speaker had to suspend the proceedings of the house for 15 minutes inorder to return normalcy.

“Following chaos witnessed in the House, I order the House suspended for fifteen minutes,” Omulele said

MPs were seen pushing each other, some even exchanging heavy fists and punches – forcing the session speaker Chris Omuelele to suspend the sitting for 15 minutes to allow the tension to dome down.

The incident sparked chants in parliament against the parliamentary leader of Minority and Suba law-maker, John Mbadi. “Mbadi must go!” shouted a section of MPs.

Following the incident, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairman suspended from parliament for five days.

While addressing the media, Mbadi castigated the move by the Speaker, stating that the decision to suspend him was unfair. He accused Koros of attacking him after he attempted to stop him form voting for a member who was absent.

Mbadi argued that he only retaliated to defend himself from the sigowet soin MP.

“The honourable member charges at me and in the process, he bites my finger. So what am I to do? Do I just sit there and watch as he bites my finger?” He posed as he displayed his bleeding finger
