A 56-year-old deputy school principal on Tuesday morning burnt beyond recognition inside his house in Hindi, Lamu County.
Lamu County Police Commissioner, Irungu Macharia, who confirmed the incident said that police investigations are ongoing to establish the root cause of the fire.
Police said that a thick dark smoke was seen emanating from the roof of the house on the wee hours of Tuesday morning when the deceased was still sleeping.
This came just a day when six people were also killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in Witho Salama area, Lamu County.
Police officers who visited the area responded by moving the chaired remains of the deceased to the hospital mortuary for postmortem
However, Lamu County Commissioner now linked the Tuesday morning incident to Alshabaab attack.
He said police have launched a manhunt for militants who shot six people at Widho Shopping Centre in Lamu County on Monday morning.
Five suspects linked to Monday’s attack, are in police cell.
National Police Service Spokesperson Bruno Shioso confirmed that the culprits are being interrogated over the attack which is connected to land wrangles
