A 16 year old boy from Kwa Songe primary school in Kitui tries to end his life after failing to receive his KCPE results. The boy is said to have reported to school on the 22nd of March to sit his exams just like all the other candidates. However, the exam supervisor dismissed him, claiming that his name was not on the list of registered students.

According to his grandmother, the boy was allowed to write the remaining exams. This was after the senior residents had a word with the school.

On 12th of March 2021, the student received a message that his index number does not exist after sending a message to KNEC. It is at this point that he lost all hope and opted to taking his own life.

“I felt like my world had come to an end, spending 8 years in school and having nothing to show for it. In the long run, it is not just frustrating, but also heartbreaking. I blamed the head teacher for everything.”

Family members have since called for help from the Education ministry. All they want is the release of the student’s results despite the three subjects he missed. This is due to the assurance that there will 100% transition to high school. They also demand that serious action to be taken against the school for the injustice.

“The CS promised 100% primary to secondary school transition. So it does not matter how many marks my brother scores, he will still be allowed to join form one. I am appealing to the ministry to release his marks for the exams he took,” his brother said.

This is very unfortunate as the CS Magoha himself, warned that all students should be allowed to sit the examinations despite any issue with the registration.
