Mornings are the most important part of the day. How you carry yourself around in the morning will affect your entire day. Study shows that the brain is highly alert in the morning. As a student, you would want to use this time productively. Your brain can absorb a lot in the morning and therefore, this is the time you would want to cover most of your studies.

Many people find it hard to get up early in the morning. This may be caused by a lot of reasons, including laziness. Here are some tips on how to become a morning person in school;

1. Have enough sleep in the night.
Going to bed early will make it easier for you to rise in the morning. Avoid wasting time at night either making stories or even reading a novel. The human body needs approximately eight hours of sleep every night. This will make your body stronger and more attentive during the day. Sleep is very important and ensure you allow your body to rest well every day.

2. Plan your day.
Plan the activities for the next day before going to bed. This will allow your brain to take in the objectives of the day and how busy you would be.

3. Learn how to say “NO”
If your roommate wants to make stories till late in the night, tell them that you have a busy morning and therefore need to get enough sleep. It is actually not that hard and will save you a lot of time.

4. Take baby steps
Change does not happen overnight. Take it slow on yourself. If after a week of trial you still find it hard to be productive in the morning, do not fret, keep pushing yourself and slowly you will see progress.

5. Get up at the same time everyday
Being consistent is key to improvement. If your goal is to wake up at 4:00 am every day, make sure you are up at that time every day for your brain to get used to it. It is not as hard as it looks, you just need the discipline to do it.

6. Avoid snoozing
If you set your alarm to wake up at 4:00 am, do not snooze it for even five minutes. This usually causes laziness and you will end up sleeping in.

7. Exercise regularly
Keep your body fit and strong. Regular exercise is also important for the brain. Doing this will help increase your concentration span and also attentiveness.

8. Do not study in bed
Your brain needs to understand that bed is only for sleep. Studying on your desk ensures good posture while studying is key for great concentration.

9. Have a protein-heavy meal
Study shows that proteins facilitates your wakefulness since it increases your dopamine levels while carbohydrates promotes sleep. Take more proteins to help make you ready for the day.

10. Stay motivated
In this journey to becoming a morning person, it is important to keep yourself motivated at all times. Every day you wake up, remind yourself why you are waking up and how it will help you. This will ensure that you do give up and strive towards achieving your goals.
